Monkey and Robot are back with more adventures.
In this beginning reader graphic novel, the two show how much fun opposites can have together. They try to become superheroes, to travel back in time, to study turtles, and to become famous. Robot is the practical one while Monkey has the creative ideas. The two combine for a lot of zany humor and sweet friendship.
Praise for the Monkey & Robot series:

"Ivan the terrier's face fills up the front cover, but, inside, the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff is being told by an unseen narrator. The art shows three goats in green fields, but then Ivan appears in the frame. The reader interrupts the text: Hey, where did that dog come from? Is that Ivan? . . . Ivan! . . . You're ruining the story! So the reader starts a different story, The Three Bears, and into the two-page spread jumps Ivan. Catalanotto's artwork mixes the soft-edged fairy-tale world with a heady realism in the form of the overactive canine, who winds up eating the gingerbread boy. In the end, the narrator gives up fairy tales and starts a story about a dog named Ivan. We see only Ivan's hind end, though, as he has moved out of view to catch a nap. It can be delightful when worlds collide. Cooper, Ilene. Booklist Review

"Mrs. Tuttle's kindergarten class has 25 students, all named Matthew, and most with jug ears and gap-toothed smiles. How does she tell them apart? Matthew A. is affectionate and Matthew B. is fond of Band-Aids. C. has a wild cowlick, and D. believes he's a duck...When a new boy is introduced to the class — Matthew, of course — his pants and jacket are blazing with zippers. Just what the class needed. In Catalanotto's surreal suburbia, many of the residents are costumed superheroes--there's Garbage Man and the duo of Mailman and Paperboy to name a few. But their grownup powers are useless in the face of the title characters' Kryptonite-like relentlessness. Question Boy sends people fleeing with his endless interrogations, while Little Miss Know-It-All evokes a similar response with her nonstop spewing of knowledge, accurate or not. When these two go toe to toe in a city park it's more than a comic smack-down. Catalanotto (Ivan the Terrier) slyly uses the duel to comment on the disintegration of civil discourse, the importance of connecting to others as individuals, and the possibilities for common ground through simply listening. A story that starts out as a wonderfully weird comedy ends up a surprisingly nuanced lesson in the art of being human. Ages 4-8. --Publishers Weekly, November 21, 2011, *STAR

Luke's parents are pregnant and always busy and tired preparing for the new baby. Luke thinks; If they can have a new baby, I can have new parents!

"Named for colors in a box of crayons, 16 kittens pair off with as many community workers and residents in this ingenious cousin to Matthew A.B.C. (2002) and Daisy 1, 2, 3 (2003). Catalanotto lines up Sophia the cat's calico offspring and then sends them away wearing colored collars to help new owners in their own way. Red kitten looks on as Dave the red-hatted firefighter contemplates a dog stuck in a tree, for instance; Green kitten poses for Paul the landscaper's verdant topiary... To brighten the color highlights, the artist renders each lively, humorous scene in neutral tones, and closes with a chromatic blast, as the kittens reunite, with confetti and identifying balloons, for a parental visit..."Kirkus Review
